In traditional Korean wedding ceremony, the bride wears red skirt, and puts on red dots on the face as a makeup. The colour celebrates youth and the feminine beauty of the bride, while wishing for happy future. During the Joseon Dynasty, the official outfit of the king (Gonryongpo) was also made of red cloth. The preference for the colour can be seen not only in clothing, but also in food; for Koreans who casually enjoy hot and spicy food, red is the colour that easily quickens appetites.
